Two-Point Perspective

Description

Someone on AA asked about perspective on this image, so I went on a long, rambling explanation that could be made far clearer by an illustration, so here it is. Here's part of what I said before:

All orthagonals, or lines of perspective, meet at one of two points to the right and left of the image. To find the right vanishing point, extend the lines of the horizontal stone moulding and the edge of the floor until they intersect. The left vanishing point is where the line of the top of the cubicles meets the line extended from the bottom of the post at the corner of the cubicle (or the edges of the floor tiles, but they're faint). To appear realistic, the vanishing points should be spaced quite far apart. Both points are also on the same horizon line
To make all the angles look "right", make sure all your lines (ie. the the top and bottom of the mirrors, the line of sinks, edges of tiles, etc.) converge at these points. Make sure your characters are also consistent with the perspective (my Myrtle is off, either she should be higher or her reflection should be lower). The exception is for objects which are not lined up with your planes of perspective, for example the cubicle door in the above image. If it were closed, the top and bottom would line up with the left vanishing point, but since the door is open, it diminishes away from us at a steeper angle. As for the reflections, it helps to think of the mirrors as windows into an adjacent room which just happens to contain the exact opposites of all the things in this room. This means that they are consistent with the above rules of perspective with the same vanishing points. To observe this, notice the top of the cubicles lines up with the top of the cublicles in the reflection.

OK, the image isn't perfect, I didn't draw the vanishing points when I was doing it, but you get the idea.
