Artist's Comments

DV 15, waiting for Tom: "Ginny sat and stared at herself in the mirror that hung opposite the bed. She looked strange to herself , incongruous and barely real, her pale, anxious face standing out above the brightly colored fabric of her dress, and the dark bed hangings falling all around her." - Cassandra Claire

Photoshop over pencil sketch, black and white 'cause Cassie likes b+w illustration. Now go look at the colour version.
edit: 26.11.05, corrected glaring error, thanks to ~shattered-black-rose, streudel for her.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ZOMG, you just keep blowing me away wiht your pictures! I'd say the black and hwite version is better because it's got an air of mysteriousness about it.:)

(That necklace is beautiful.)

I'm sure CCwill love the picture. ;D

You can't scare me. I drive a school bus!

Mmmm... I'm gonna say I like the b&w version better, but then again I'm pretty partial to b&w. It has more contrast and stands out more, because Photoshop colour over a pencil piece always causes a lot of the subtle shading and strong blacks and whites to be lost, resulting in an image that looks a little washed-out, albeit coloured.

I love your artwork. My only teeny complaint would be that I miss her freckles. I'm a Weasley Freckles Nazi. :)

Good luck in the contest!

You're so cute when you're slurring your speech.

While the other version my turn out to be the more popular (I guess people seem to respond better to color), this one I find more interesting. I think because the tonal qualities are variations on one color (or two if you count white) it's more subtle and more evocative and that seems to get lost with the addition of color. It almost seems to be designed for black and white and the color was just extra. Anyway I say submit this one.

This was before the time of names and naming, in days that knew a bloodier imperative, knew no creed save ballistics, no faith but in the ritual of tense...and spring...and thrust.

oh. my. goodness. The freckles! I forgot. I'll go fix that, meanwhile have some imaginary thank you cookies, or cupcakes, or any pastry. Also a big thank you for the comment.

You, sir, are reading my mind. Although I agree with you, I'm going to go with popular opinion, not so much because I'm a such great fan of the democratic process or anything, but because the ~HogwartsArt contest is also determined by popular opinion. Y'all are my focus group. Thank you for commenting.
